Jason Fischer resigns from school board to run for state house

undefinedDistrict 7 School Board Member Jason Fischer resigned from the board on June 19 as he prepares for a run for the District 16 state house seat.

Fischer had previously announced he would not be seeking re-election to the school board and filed to run for the state house election some months ago. He resigned this week in accordance with the state’s “Resign to Run” law.

Next slate of boundary changes adopted at Tuesday school board meeting

At its meeting tonight, the Duval County School Board approved the next set of program and boundary changes. They centered on three main proposals:

Convert R.L. Brown to a dedicated magnet for gifted and talented students, albeit with a few changes from the original proposal.

Convert John Love Elementary to a PK-2 center and Long Branch to a 3-5 center

Convert Andrew Jackson High School to a dedicated magnet for video game design, cybersecurity, information technology and sports medicine, marketing and broadcasting, with all programs connected to Dual Enrollment courses.

School board approves first slate of boundary changes

The Duval County School Board elected to implement a series of five programmatic and boundary changes, beginning this coming fall, in time for the 2016-17 school year. The schools affected are Ed White High; Wolfson High; Hyde Grove and Hyde Park Elementaries; Oak Hill Elementary and Ft. Caroline Middle School.
